Blue For You

A windmill drive by, Kansas in June.

Just a nice blue window from the archives.

Cookie monster donuts at our favorite doughnut dive, Varsity Donuts.

Blue swings at a local park.

Some blue for you and Poppytalk's Summer Colors. Have a beautiful weekend :)

Jewelry Findings Catalog

This old catalog, circa 1920's, is chock-full of decorative jewelry findings and metal stampings for earrings, brooches, pins, buckles and much more.

Every page has been meticulously inscribed with the corresponding stock number of each item. Wouldn't that have been a tedious task?!

I searched around the inter-webs a bit for any information on the Rhode Island Stamping Company of Providence, RI but came up with nary a positive query.

The book was purchased via a winning bid on Ebay last winter but it's been sitting in my items-to-be-blogged-about-someday pile and guess what...today's the day!

Now it will most likely venture into the studio to be added to the cool-old-paper-to-be-snipped-up-for-collage pile.

And...since there is no way I'll use up all 40 pages of unique decorative paper-y bits I may post a few pages up in the vintage shop. Keep an eye out for 'em you jewelry fiends ;)

Sushipot Vintage Summer Sale

Thought I'd get the summer off to a good start by having a store-wide sale at Sushipot Vintage this first official weekend of the summer. Happy shopping folks :)

Paper Doll Prickly Plaques

Three French paper doll prickly plaques were photographed and posted in the shop today. A few more anatomical plaques should be ready tomorrow. My favorite of this trio is the 'lil beach-goer with the sand pail 'n red shoes.

Summer Fantasy

Summer Fantasy, collage on book cover

We're celebrating the summer solstice here in the Northern Hemisphere today so I made a summer-y collage to share with you. Not sure what all we'll be doing to celebrate but I'm certain it will involve lots of splashing.

Little Elephant

Lizzie received the sweetest sewing kit for her birthday a few months back (thank you Grandma!) and she's been working off 'n on stitching up this 'lil elephant. I told her yesterday if she finished it up I'd show it off on the blog today. She's so proud of it and I'm proud of her for doing it *mostly* on her own.

TTFN

We're headed into a long weekend of summer fun with a special someone (aka Nana!). So...as Lizzie likes to say "ta ta for now". I'll see you back in this space at some point next week. But before I go, here's a coupon code for ya. It's good for 10% off your order in either shop all weekend long. Coupon Code: TTFN10

June Art Blocks

As promised, here is a preview of fresh art blocks headed into the shop tonight and tomorrow. There are actually 14 total but a couple of 'em didn't really fit with this group so they'll be a surprise. Just lemme know if you see any you want to reserve for your collection.

Monday, Monday

A really BIG thank you to each and every Sushipot patron who shopped the art block sale this weekend! We had a really BIG pile 'o packages to take to the post office this morning. I'll pop back in this evening with a preview of fresh art blocks that will be heading into the shop tonight. Y'all about cleared me out! Thank you, thank you.

Lotsa Boxes

Lotsa boxes are being dusted off 'n posted in the shop. Guess I've been kinda hoarding these boxes but I do use them from time to time to make shadowbox assemblage pieces.

Green Wooden Boxes, Set of 3

But...the truth of the matter is I have way too many boxes and many of 'em moved with us from Mobile, Alabama four years ago. Patrick's graduate school stint is quickly drawing to a close here in Manhattan and an inevitable move is on the horizon next summer.

Old Sewing Drawers, Set of 2

So...my new, self-imposed rule is if IT moved with us to Kansas from Alabama it won't be moving again. Basically, I've gotta Lighten. The. Load.

Extra Long Wooden Drawer/Box

These boxes are great for displaying baubles on the coffee table, holding art supplies in the studio OR making shadowbox assemblages ('cuz that's what I love doing with 'em).

Galvanized Metal Bucket

And...there's even an old bucket in the shop right now. Picked this one up off the side of the road in Alabama. You never know what you'll find on an afternoon stroll!

I See Faces

Found Object Faces at Sushipot Vintage

One of my favorite tags to browse on Instagram is #iseefaces. It's always fun to see the faces that others discover in mundane objects or find obscured in the urban landscape.

I put together this set of faces for the shop. Many of these little faces have been following me around for years--most of them were picked up on the Gulf Coast. Guess it's time to set 'em free!

We have big plans this weekend. Patrick and I are celebrating our twelfth wedding anniversary on Sunday. You can peek at our wedding pics I posted last year but all you get this year is this family portrait of sorts. Hah!
