My Leprechauns

My two leprechauns are always up to some sort of mischief ;) We celebrated over the weekend by attending the parade downtown. What a hoot! They are sure generous with their candy here...Lizzie came home with a bag full of loot and even caught a stuffed pony the size of her head. Wishing you and your leprechauns a Happy St. Patty's Day!

Lucky Us

Lizzie created a Saint Patrick's Day cartoon and I asked her permission to share it here on the blog (you can click the cartoon to enlarge). Patrick and I both thought the main character was eating the gold but Lizzie explained his mom had made his favorite fruit salad so he had something lucky happen to him after all ;) We attended the local St. Patty's Day Parade yesterday and Lizzie said she was luckier than ever 'cuz she caught more candy at this parade than last years. Oh....and we all got to eat Lucky Charms for breakfast....lucky us!

Lotsa Boxes

Lotsa boxes are being dusted off 'n posted in the shop. Guess I've been kinda hoarding these boxes but I do use them from time to time to make shadowbox assemblage pieces.

But...the truth of the matter is I have way too many boxes and many of 'em moved with us from Mobile, Alabama four years ago. Patrick's graduate school stint is quickly drawing to a close here in Manhattan and an inevitable move is on the horizon next summer.

So...my new, self-imposed rule is if IT moved with us to Kansas from Alabama it won't be moving again. Basically, I've gotta Lighten. The. Load.

These boxes are great for displaying baubles on the coffee table, holding art supplies in the studio OR making shadowbox assemblages ('cuz that's what I love doing with 'em).

Galvanized Metal Bucket

And...there's even an old bucket in the shop right now. Picked this one up off the side of the road in Alabama. You never know what you'll find on an afternoon stroll!

Lucky Greens

Enjoy this collection of lucky green ephemera I put together just for you. Looks like we'll be attending the local parade decked out in our green garb (someone in this house already has her nails painted green in anticipation). Have a happy Saint Patrick's Day y'all!

Antique Fern Illustrations

Just a bit of greenery to freshen things up! I placed these lovely book plates in the shop last week but never shared them here. These color lithographs have such delicate detail in person (you can click on the images to see them a bit closer). The plates are from Ferns: British and Exotic by E. J. Lowe, published in 1872.

Garden Green Objects

Green Ephemera

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Thought I'd share a selection of green ephemera from my ephemeral "pot of gold" in honor of the holiday. This bingo card was added to the collection a few years back while living in Mobile, Alabama. We shared a zip code with VFW Post #49.

This little Green-Cap brownie looks like a leprechaun to me. A page from a 1920 children's reader.
