Walking On Sunshine

Since we're welcoming in the month of February with a crazy winter storm here in Kansas I thought I would try to spread a bit of sunshine around and hope for the best. This little collage, "Walking On Sunshine", was done on the pages of my new notebook from Poketo. The gridded pages are a lot of fun to work with so I'm sure I'll be sharing more soon. It has been months since I've posted a page from my sketchbook and I have to admit I've been out of the habit. Anyhow, I picked it back up the other day and added to this page over the last few evenings. I always save the smallest bits and snippets from my collage work to use on my sketchbook pages.

A little bit of this and that--always remember to place right side up! Can you tell I like graph paper? Oh yes, I also cannot resist the ubiquitous paper bag. I used to hoard them years ago for figure drawing sessions when I couldn't afford those big sheets of nice, clean paper.

Good Soup

My top 3 plans for this weekend are:

1. Arrange bookshelves that have been sitting empty in the living room since the first week of January when the Christmas tree was taken down and they were put up in its place (this is so embarrassing to admit).

2. NOT watch the Superbowl.

3. Make a big pot of GOOD soup.

I spent this past Thursday creating a new grouping of collage art blocks. I tossed all the leftover fragments of paper into the trash but then retrieved them on Friday night to create this collage in my sketchbook.

Doll Face Series

A new series of assemblage dolls has been brewing here at Sushipot for several months. I have been playing around with ideas to incorporate all the miscellaneous doll bodies I have stacked up here in the studio. Anyhow, a late night idea during the hectic holiday season was quickly sketched (see below) and tonight I'm finally launching the first 3 pieces of my new "Doll Face" series!
