Patchwork Book Quilt

Orange, mixed media collage quilt with old book covers

Old books that find their way into my studio are dissected and skinned. When the box labeled 'book skins' starts to fill up I piece together another patchwork quilt. Some of the skins are more brittle than others so I've found the best method is to glue them together first and then add the stitching. In the image below you can see the pre-gluestick composition of my latest quilt.

Valentine Art Blocks

The Christmas tree was dismantled earlier this week and our winter wear is being put to very good use. It seems like the perfect time to look ahead to sweet thoughts of love and friendship. If I do say so myself....these Valentine art blocks last much longer than a box of chocolates and they won't melt either.

Jester Assemblage

I had a request for another wall assemblage in this vein so I've created a jester. Figured it would be a fun piece to ring in the new year. He is a very jolly fellow indeed. Next up is a slew of art blocks which may or may not include a nod to St. Valentine.

Hello 2015

A video posted by Suzanna Scott (@sushipot) on

Hello 2015....you have arrived. I'll admit I haven't done much during my end-of-the-year hiatus....I've begun my yearly studio clean/purge but I've also indulged in four whole seasons of Downton Abbey. To tell the truth I'm more than happy to return to a routine and my hands are itching to make something. Happy New Year friends!
