My favorite find of the week (or the month for that matter!) is this old-school, handmade toy telephone. Press down on the little clapper and the bells makes a delightful 'ding'. It has the added bonus of a nice face too :-]

Patchwork Bunting

What to do with a beautiful but terribly tattered 'n threadbare quilt top? Make patchwork bunting of course! Snipping, starching, punching and stringing these 'lil bunting flags together was a nice break from other household duties over the weekend. Of course I've put aside some prime pieces to stitch up into pillow shams at a later date. For now, I'm offering these patchwork-y bunting strands in the vintage shop. These look pretty sweet hanging 'round the house if I do say so myself!

Betty's Valentines

I've been saving these handmade Valentines for months with the intention of sharing them with you today. Each of the darling cards are inscribed to a girl named Betty--I'm thinking she must have saved them from a class party many years ago. Lucky for me she did as they are now a special part of my ephemera collection. My hands-down favorite is the clown Valentine but that anthropomorphic heart comes a close second. May you and your Valentine(s) have a very special day together!

Harlequin Alphabet Blocks

This has got to be one of my most favorite alphabet block finds ever! You can't go wrong with a primitive, peachy-pink 'n black harlequin style alphabet block set. Believe me--this folksy set is u-n-i-q-u-e and obviously created with much love. You can take a closer peek at it right here in the shop.

Hanky Doll

I was perusing Etsy late one night last week (totally unlike me I know!) and this charming little lady waved to me. Ohhhh, such a sweet n' folksy little hanky doll--I knew at once I must take a closer look. An even happier surprise to find she was created by Cali, an 11 year old middle schooler, who has set up her own Etsy shop with the encouragement of her Gramz, The Jewel Seeker. Cali has several more of these sweet hanky dolls in her shop, Cali Cakes Creations and I'm certain one will wave at you too!

Homemade Picture Book

Rummaging through my studio this week I rediscovered this homemade cloth picture book purchased at Kelly's Vintage Goods on Etsy back in my pre-blogging days. I must tell you it has been so nice to have a group of like-minded others who enjoy my ramblings about the little things I find and buy and love. Anyhow, this picture book must have been made by some artsy-mama back in the day for their little boy at Christmas. I only scanned in a few of the pages (I may share more another day) but these were my favs as they are filled with cutouts of household objects 'n things. I love the faded images, the tattered edges and the perfectly random arrangement of the clippings. I'm thinking that little boy loved it too although (tsk, tsk) what the heck is that pack of Chesterfield's doing in a baby's picture book?

Handmade Heart

We're feeling a bit better and on the tail end of our colds. Hope everyone is having a beautiful Friday and looking forward to the weekend--I know that I am! Thought I'd share a newly acquired art object with you today. I was lucky enough to win the bid on this handmade heart model over on Ebay last week. Someone was auctioning off old med school anatomical models and this gem was tucked in among them. The bids on the others were all out of reach, but lucky for me I didn't have as much competition for this charming hand painted wooden heart.

I'm still deciding on a place for it in the house but I suspect it will likely appear in a vignette soon. Thanks for stopping by, I'll see you again on Monday.
