Sundays Fundays

Lizzie hasn't missed wearing her Little Miss Sunshine, Sundays Fundays shirt, for a Sunday since she got it over a year ago. Now Sunday's are officially our family fun-day. (I swear she was having fun despite that look. hah!)

Today we decided to take our co-pilot bike trailer on a long-ish ride and explore the Linear Trail here in Manhattan. It was a gorgeous Kansas day and before we knew it we'd covered over 6 miles and then had to pedal back to our car.

Twelve-ish miles is not bad for us and the longest ride for Lizzie yet. And yes...she did pedal the entire way!

Of course we had to stop for a few Instagram shots on an old bridge.

I don't mind stopping for Patrick's chippy paint images 'cuz he's always patiently stopping for my "just-a-quick-look-see" at antique malls 'n thrift shops when we're out and about. I'm tellin' ya....marriage is all about compromise ;)

Mom (me!) insisted on a quick family snapshot at the end of our trail. We all agreed it was a great Sunday Funday....

....and then we polished off our day with "bicycle soup". Hope you had a Sunday Funday too!

Britt's Garden Acres

Last Friday was a fabulous (and blusterous as Lizzie kept saying!) Autumn day. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Britt's Garden Acres and managed to fill up our car with a great variety of pumpkins and gourds. Don't think we've ever had so many in one season before. In addition to pumpkin picking--we petted the farm animals (Patrick got a few too many pecks in a variety of places!), braved the corn maze and survived a bumpy hayride. A totally successful Fall day if I do say so myself!

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day weekend to all the fathers, papas, pops and daddy's out there! Lizzie and I are scheming up a whole day 'o fun for her Daddy but it's TOP SECRET so I can't reveal anything here. This picture was taken downtown in Kansas City, Missouri a few weeks ago. Of course I had to have a picture of the old sign so I hopped out of the car to snap a few. Some guy driving by honked 'n hollered and offered to be my Daddy. I told him I had more than I knew what to do with and quickly hopped back into the car with Patrick. But hey....I got my picture!

Fresh Veggies

We're eating a whole bunch of super fresh veggies these days thanks to our incredible Farmer's Market on Wednesday n' Saturdays. The scrumptious cherry tomatoes we bought yesterday have already been gobbled up. Tonight's dinner was roasted vegetable curry with cauliflower, new potatoes, zucchini, carrots, onions, green peppers and tomatoes---all from the market yesterday!

Weekend In Kansas City

Our weekend in Kansas City was a whole bunch of fun. We stayed at the historical Hotel Phillips, established in 1931 and full of exquisite Art Deco details. Saturday we attended Jiggle Jam, visited the Crown Center (including the Crayola Store!), the Hallmark Visitors Center and Union Station. Sunday we spent the entire day at the Kansas City Zoo. We ate too much, drank too much (coffee, of course!) and I took too many pictures (via Instagram of course!). Our favorite restaurant pick was the Genghis Kahn Mongolian Grill. Hope your weekend was lovely too.

The Oz Museum

After living in Kansas for two years we decided it was high time to visit the Oz Museum in Wamego, Kansas. It is quaint museum, chock-full of memorabilia from the movie and collectibles galore. I certainly enjoyed the museum as my mother had read all of L. Frank Baum's original 14 Oz books out loud to my siblings and me when we were kids. I'm still trying to decide if I want to tackle this same task with Lizzie! We're currently wading through Mrs. Piggle Wiggle's Farm. Happy Monday!
