Halloween Art Blocks

As promised these Halloween-ish art blocks are headed into the shop today. Yay for the season of spooks!

September Art Blocks

This batch of collage art blocks is the first one for September. My grand plan is to have them all in the shop tonight. Let's see if that happens....

Boooo....

....someone has been practicing their very scariest voice all weekend! Our pumpkins are carved, a massive amount of candy has been purchased and one Dorothy Gale costume has been pressed 'n starched. We're ready for tonight folks! Are you?

Britt's Garden Acres

Last Friday was a fabulous (and blusterous as Lizzie kept saying!) Autumn day. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Britt's Garden Acres and managed to fill up our car with a great variety of pumpkins and gourds. Don't think we've ever had so many in one season before. In addition to pumpkin picking--we petted the farm animals (Patrick got a few too many pecks in a variety of places!), braved the corn maze and survived a bumpy hayride. A totally successful Fall day if I do say so myself!

Halloween Art Blocks

Goblins, ghouls, jack 'o lanterns, haunted houses, trick-or-treating children, windy days, spider webs 'n fairies are taking over the shop. The first bunch 'o Halloween art blocks was added over the weekend. Enjoy!

Gourd Portraits

Several miniature gourds have been adorning our mantle this autumn since we picked them up at the pumpkin patch in October. I realized I'd never shared these portraits I took of them (and Lizzie's pumpkin) last month. They will soon be replaced by other seasonal decorations. Time has indeed passed quickly during this busiest of seasons here at Sushipot.

Our jack 'o lantern carving efforts were successful! All three of us were pleased with how they turned out and we had a bunch of fun making them together.

Pumpkin Portraits

We're planning to carve our pumpkins this weekend. Lizzie posed for me with the one she picked out. She was emphatic on choosing one that she could carry all by herself.

We didn't want the mini pumpkin to feel left out of our photo shoot.

One Fall Walk

Finally....the leaves are starting to turn here in Kansas. Lizzie and I found the above evidence on one of our recent Fall walks. Our routine 1.1 mile jaunt around the neighborhood always produces new things to document.

A bird flying south for winter? There were so many soaring overhead but the snapshot only caught one.

The destination during this time of year are some large jack-o'-lantern yard ornaments in a cul-de-sac we pass. As long as I promise that we'll "visit the pumpkins" I have a very willing walking partner.

Once home we empty our pockets and document the treasures on the front stoop. Polly Pocket always claims the acorn tops for use as hats and bowls.

Mini Pumpkins

We stopped by our local pumpkin patch this weekend to stock up on pumpkins. Lizzie and I were fascinated by these baskets of mini pumpkins. In addition to the mini variety we picked out three big ones to carve into jack o' lanterns. I'm sure I'll be sharing many more pumpkin pictures this month!
