Hello Friends

Hello friends! I feel I must explain the crickets chirping in this space and over in the shops. It's been a seemingly endless absence and frankly one I would have much preferred to do without. Long story short....we all came down with the flu early last week and are just now slooooowly making our way back into the beautiful routine of daily life. I miss it so much.

Also....if you've emailed or convo'ed me within the last 10 days please know that I am slogging through my inbox and will be in touch with you soon-ish! Thank you for understanding.

Calling In Sick

I hate to do this, but I'm calling in a for a couple sick days. Some sort of spring cold has been making the rounds in our house, and we've all 3 come down with the chills. I'll do my very best to be back on Friday. Hope that you are staying well--have a good week!

Mother, Mother I Feel Sick

Another clever vintage picture book on Lizzie's bookshelf. The book is titled, Mother, Mother, I Feel Sick. Send For the Doctor, Quick, Quick, Quick. It was published in 1966 and was written by Remy Charlip and Burton Supree with illustrations also by Remy Charlip. What child (or adult) does not take pleasure in these images of sudden fatness and a strange stomach ache resulting in a plethora of bizarre objects being plucked from a little boy's body?

Our volume is endowed with bonus artwork left by the previous owner.

I love this page. Marbled pink and black--in a picture book too!

Full instructions on conducting your own shadow play to reenact the story are included. Haven't done this yet but one day we will.

And the story begins.....

What a great assemblage of objects! Don't you agree?

And of course a happy ending with all restored to normal...or is it? You must read this book to a kid you know. Luckily, it has been reprinted by Amazon and is available for purchase here. Until next time--be careful what you eat and don't forget to button up your sweater!

Smiley Face

Still feeling a little under the weather but Lizzie has decided that it's time for me to be "all better". She keeps finding ways to cheer me up like being goofy with her smiley face eraser. I have found enough energy to finish up a project I started last weekend. Stop back by tomorrow and I'll share it with you :)

Visual Cures

I've been nursing some sort of viral crud the last few days and went to visit the doctor this morning to make certain my sore throat was not strep. The test was negative so the doctor's orders are rest and liquids. Decided to come home and rest by perusing my Etsy favorites for some sort of visual cure. If only I could eat soup from these bowls at ionesAttic it would be a magic tonic for sure!

Just looking at this would cure anyone. A beautiful, wearable piece of art, in design, color palette and texture created by spinthread.

And I need a dose of this floral brooch from badassbunny!

Of course a bouquet of pencils from SweetLoveVintage would cheer me up and get me to feeling myself again.

Oh well, hopefully it will move on soon. In the meantime, I'd better go refill my glass of water!
