Just Relax

Bohemian Patchwork Quilt, at RobertaGrove

I've been telling myself to "just relax" quite a lot during these busy autumn days. So...I did just that and put together an Autumnal treasury of some recent Etsy favorites of mine. Enjoy!

Put Out My Lights

Put Out My Lights Carnival Sign at bellalulu

I have no idea what's involved in the carnival game "Put Out My Lights" but I do know it only cost a single dollar (and had some really cool signage to boot)! Anyhow, the sign inspired this collection of vintage objects from my Etsy favorites. Enjoy!

A Few Favorites

An Etsy treasury filled with a few of my favorites. I succumbed to the lure of those old paintbrushes and purchased the collection earlier today.

Fact & Fancy

Vintage Wooden Clown available at sevenBC

Wish I could find time to make more treasuries. They are so fun to put together and goodness knows my list of favorites grows by the day due to my Etsy circle of folks with exquisite taste. Take this folksy clown for instance--I really, really want him for my clown collection. Last night I did find time to put one together before calling it a night. Take a peek at Fact & Fancy--a few things worth coveting!

What's The Point?

This antique gameboard reproduction painted by Terri Dondlinger of twddesigns on Etsy has been sitting around in my favorites for a while. Last night I was in a treasury making mood and I put one together titled "What's The Point?" inspired by these converging points and this Oscar Wilde quote, “What is said of a man is nothing. The point is, who says it.”

Cabbage Moon

Another favorite in our collection of vintage children's books is Cabbage Moon by Jan Wahl with truly magical illustrations by Adrienne Adams. The book was published in 1965 by Holt, Rinehart and Winston. If you can find a copy of this book it's a real treasure for any child or youth-at-heart.

Of course, the moon is a cabbage in this story.

The heroine, Princess Adelgitha (who walks on stilts), and her best friend Jennie are certain of this truth.

The villain in the tale is a miser named Lorenzo Squink (what a great name!) who steals the moon to make some cabbage salad.

Jennie and the Princess go to great lengths to save the moon from a bath of sour cream.

And yes....there is a happy ending.

A perfectly, perfect fairy tale for any age.

Visual Cures

I've been nursing some sort of viral crud the last few days and went to visit the doctor this morning to make certain my sore throat was not strep. The test was negative so the doctor's orders are rest and liquids. Decided to come home and rest by perusing my Etsy favorites for some sort of visual cure. If only I could eat soup from these bowls at ionesAttic it would be a magic tonic for sure!

Just looking at this would cure anyone. A beautiful, wearable piece of art, in design, color palette and texture created by spinthread.

And I need a dose of this floral brooch from badassbunny!

Of course a bouquet of pencils from SweetLoveVintage would cheer me up and get me to feeling myself again.

Oh well, hopefully it will move on soon. In the meantime, I'd better go refill my glass of water!
