Sabbatical

Dear friends,

A note to let you know that I've decided to give myself a sabbatical. I'm closing my Etsy shop and this blog for an undetermined length of time. I thank you for supporting my work and sharing in this Sushipot adventure. Please do not be alarmed--all is well! I know this appears to be a sudden decision but it is one I have contemplated for a long while. In short, I want to give myself some room to work and grow as an artist. I have many ideas and projects that have been placed on the back burner due to time spent playing the 'Etsy game'. Any future updates will be posted here, though I am leaving my timetable open-ended as my off-line life is calling.

Oh October!

Seems like every time October rolls around I have an 'oh s**t' moment over my things-to-do-before-the-holiday-season-begins list (as an Etsy seller that is). All summer long I have the best of intentions to be prepared but when you run a one woman show it's much easier said than done. Anyhow, it's no different this year and today is that day. haha! So I'm telling myself to kick it into high gear and tackle that list (we'll see how it goes!). First up is to finish this bevy of wall dolls who have been patiently waiting for additional limbs. They gotta have something to kick around with you know ;) Oh....and before I forget....a happy October to you!

Little did I know that small action would turn into a full time venture (job!) for me. As Patrick has pointed out so sweetly, I've never held any other job down for that length of time. haha! Speaking of vintage toys....there is a plethora of well-loved gems on Etsy. This afternoon I searched through my own shop favorites for the best ones I've discovered over the past months. Probably not time to get these before Christmas but ya never know. It doesn't hurt to ask! 

As for me, I'm still shipping out Christmas goodies. The USPS postal shipping deadline for Priority Mail delivery on Xmas Eve is December 21st so here at Sushipot & Sushipot Vintage if you make a purchase by Friday morning (USA folks) I'll upgrade you to Priority Mail for no extra charge and ship the same day. 

And...I want to say "Thank You" to each and everyone of you who sent Lizzie birthday messages via the blog and email. She has enjoyed these little notes and wants you to know she loves being eight years old :)

Well I sat down at the computer this morning and promptly fell down the rabbit hole of Etsy. This collection of neutrally gray goodies came together quite nicely if I do say so myself. But after I sent out messages to all the lovely sellers included I realized I had called it a "Tuesday list" and it's Wednesday! Since its lookin' like it's "one of those days" I'm off to scavenge another cuppa caffeine.

Today marks six years on Etsy and boy am I happy I stumbled across it when I did! Patrick pointed out to me that it's the longest I've ever held down a job (haha!). Perusing the Etsy marketplace for daily inspiration and composing treasuries is a guilty pleasure of mine. At least I don't have a boss telling me it's time to get back to work (just that nagging voice in my head!).

It arrived yesterday so I drank my morning cuppa out of it today and I had a lovely, worry-free day. I can attest that its reverse psychology charms worked :)
