Signs Of Fall

Lizzie and I gathered these first signs of Fall about our neighborhood this week. We've been enjoying crisper evenings and are busy planning all the soups 'n stews we will concoct this season. Happy first weekend of Autumn!

So Long Summer

Only a few more hours 'til the official start of Fall though we've already been enjoying some cozy sweater weather. It has been a beautiful Summer....lots of lazy days, road trips and memories. Can't ask for anything better!

I want to thank all of you who celebrated with me this past weekend. Thank you for supporting my work and for all the kind words you've sent my way.

September Blocks

There are only twelve days 'til the autumnal equinox and around six weeks to Halloween. This means my September offering of art blocks needed a spine-tingling vibe....that and I've been listening to this reading of The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde while I cut and paste.

Fall Foliage

We've been enjoying some splendid Fall foliage these past few weeks.

Always more fun to rake wet leaves with a tiny rake (don't ask!).

Our neighbor's golden tree.

The piles of leaves have been dubbed 'nature's pillows' :)

Our neighbor's golden tree the next day.

'Leaf bouquets' are gathered on our daily walks (as if we need more!).

Happy Friday!

Raggedy Ann

The rain let up just in time for Raggedy Ann to go trick-or-treating this evening. I gotta say thank you to the Rountree neighborhood for an awesome first Halloween in Springfield....y'all outdid yourselves!

Fall Things Zines

We made "Fall Things" zines over the weekend to celebrate the beginning of the new season. Lizzie and I filled ours with things that remind us of Fall and Patrick did a literal interpretation of 'things that fall in the Fall' (and other times of year!). If you want to make one too, here are instructions on how to fold a mini zine. We used the single page option, no staples necessary. Happy Fall y'all!

This batch of collage art blocks is the first one for September. My grand plan is to have them all in the shop tonight. Let's see if that happens....

Random Bouquets

A few random bouquets from 'round the studio this week. And...don't miss Etsy's latest "There's No Place Like Here" installment featuring the Liberty Tool Company. Adding to my list of "places to visit if I ever happen to be in Maine". Happy weekend all!

Blanket Of Leaves

The wind has been blowin' here in Kansas since I took these pictures earlier in the week. Now we're enjoying this blanket of leaves outside our back door. I'm thinking a few brisk walks are in order over the weekend so we can crunch through all the pretty leaves 'round the neighborhood.

Just Relax

Bohemian Patchwork Quilt, at RobertaGrove

I've been telling myself to "just relax" quite a lot during these busy autumn days. So...I did just that and put together an Autumnal treasury of some recent Etsy favorites of mine. Enjoy!

Britt's Garden Acres

Last Friday was a fabulous (and blusterous as Lizzie kept saying!) Autumn day. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Britt's Garden Acres and managed to fill up our car with a great variety of pumpkins and gourds. Don't think we've ever had so many in one season before. In addition to pumpkin picking--we petted the farm animals (Patrick got a few too many pecks in a variety of places!), braved the corn maze and survived a bumpy hayride. A totally successful Fall day if I do say so myself!

Happy Leaves

Thought you'd enjoy this pair 'o happy leaves that Lizzie drew yesterday. We're getting ready to head out to a local farm in search of pumpkins and possibly a hayride. Happy Friday!

Happy Fall Y'all

I'm thrilled it actually feels like autumn today on this first official day of Fall--it's sunny, crisp and cool (ie, just perfect!). Aren't these the sweetest illustrations? They are from a grade school primer titled Friends, which was published in 1929 and illustrated by Marguerite Davis. Happy Fall Y'all!
