Welcome Spring

Welcome Spring! I'm a bit giddy over this recently acquired engraving of various moth species and their caterpillars. The hand-tinted beauty is from Der Schmetterlingsammler by Dr. Julius Hoffmann and was published in Stuttgart, Germany in 1887. After growing up in a tropical climate I'm always very ready to welcome this particular change of season.

Veggies, Shells & 'Shrooms

I've been saving some of the best-est illustration plates from this French dictionary. Well...maybe I was tempted to hold onto them myself but have now posted them for sale in the spirit of freshening up the vintage shop for the new year. You can browse the available selection right here and I plan to post more throughout the week.

French Dictionary Art Blocks

This exquisite selection of imagery was gleaned from a 1923 French dictionary. Each illustration was carefully decoupaged onto a wooden block and voilĂ --new art blocks are in the shop. Enjoy!

Happy Fall Y'all

I'm thrilled it actually feels like autumn today on this first official day of Fall--it's sunny, crisp and cool (ie, just perfect!). Aren't these the sweetest illustrations? They are from a grade school primer titled Friends, which was published in 1929 and illustrated by Marguerite Davis. Happy Fall Y'all!

Monogram Plaques

New monogram plaques in the shop tonight. Let me know if you would like a specific letter and I'll see if it's still available. These illustrations were gleaned from a 1922 volume of the French dictionary, Larousse Universel.

Antique Fern Illustrations

Just a bit of greenery to freshen things up! I placed these lovely book plates in the shop last week but never shared them here. These color lithographs have such delicate detail in person (you can click on the images to see them a bit closer). The plates are from Ferns: British and Exotic by E. J. Lowe, published in 1872.

Exquisite illustration plates from a 1922 volume of the French dictionary, Larousse Universel are now available in the shop. More plates will be added in the coming weeks so keep checking back. I've offered smaller versions of these from the Nouveau Petit Larousse previously but these are substantially larger at 11 1/2" x 8", including the borders. Harvesting Hearts

A view of my workspace last night. I've been receiving a few patient inquiries as to whether or not I'll be posting new Doll House's with anatomical hearts for the upcoming season of love. So, last night I "harvested" a few hearts and began laying out some new pieces. Stay tuned for these new assemblages--there will be more than just your run-of-the-mill Doll House coming to the shop in the next week.
