Doll House no 402

Doll House no 402 (protecting perineum in forceps delivery), mixed media assemblage

Two doll houses coming to the shop today....both feature engravings from an 1888 book on obstetrics. Somehow the old sewing pattern tissue and the birth images work so well together.

Doll House no 394

Doll House no 394 (with podalic version in head presentation), mixed media assemblage

The two doll houses in progress last week are finished and will be posted in the shop today. One more engraving from a very old volume on obstetrics published in 1888. Its images are oh so exquisite....oh so bizarre....more to come on future pieces.

Doll House no 390

Doll House no 390, mixed media assemblage

Hard to believe I'm approaching no 400 in this series. Doll House no 1 was created in 2006 and I blogged the precursors of this series in this post.

Doll House no 384 (with breech delivery)

The image on this Doll House was gleaned from an obstetrics volume published in 1889. The text is vintage Vogue sewing pattern tissue.
