Speaking Of Blocks

And...speaking of blocks....here are a couple more sets that I've added to the virtual shelves of the vintage shop this week. Never seen anything like either of these before which is always a plus in my book. Unique alphabet block sets for artists and/or collectors!

Embossed Alphabet Blocks

Playing with blocks never gets old to me and luckily I've got a job that enables this tendency quite a bit. I really enjoy photographing handsome objects such as this set of beautifully embossed alphabet blocks. I've kinda been drooling over the varied patinas on each surface so I thought I'd share several of sides of 'em.

Harlequin Alphabet Blocks

This has got to be one of my most favorite alphabet block finds ever! You can't go wrong with a primitive, peachy-pink 'n black harlequin style alphabet block set. Believe me--this folksy set is u-n-i-q-u-e and obviously created with much love. You can take a closer peek at it right here in the shop.

Monogram Plaques

New monogram plaques in the shop tonight. Let me know if you would like a specific letter and I'll see if it's still available. These illustrations were gleaned from a 1922 volume of the French dictionary, Larousse Universel.

Little ABC Book

My heart melted when I found this endearing Little ABC Book! From its jewel-toned cover to each brilliant red letter of the alphabet, I knew this was a treasure. After a bit of sleuthing, I've discovered that it was published by the McLoughlin Brothers of New York in the early 1880's. What sweet child turned the pages of this linen primer while learning their letters? It's tattered edges tell the tale of true love in its past for sure!

Alphabet De La Brodeuse

An old volume of embroidery patterns, Alphabet de la Brodeuse, published by the DMC library of France has come into my possession. The tiny book is chock-full of elegant lettering, monograms, and ornamental patterns. I'm sure that snippets from these pages will start appearing here 'n there in my collage pieces very soon. Enjoy!

Antique Alphabet Blocks

I posted this exquisite set of antique alphabet blocks in the shop a few nights ago and realized I never shared them here. The graphics are amazing don't you think?

Fun Finds

I've posted a selection of fun vintage finds over at Sushipotparts. This Changeable Charlie puzzle is a hoot and would make a great Father's Day gift!

A darling set of old-school animal alphabet letters.

And...a pair of Little Red Riding Hood objects. You have no excuse not to start a collection!
