This Blog Is Moving!

A collection of objects hanging on my studio wall.

With the launch of my new website I've decided to move my blog as well. The archives of this blog, 2009-2015, will be left intact for you to peruse if you'd like. If you have not done so I'd love for you to join my mailing list. A big thank you to all my faithful followers--I do hope you'll join me in my new space!

Queen Bee

I've held onto this petite, freakish doll head for years. The back of the head is marked 1914 and it was quite fragile with a hairline crack. Anyhow, I was able to reinforce the interior with resin to use in this assemblage and she's stronger than ever. Hard to tell from the photos but she has itsy-bitsy teeth in her mouth....kinda vampir-esque if you ask me. Decided not to go that route and gave her a bumblebee with breasts get-up.

Home Sweet Home no 3

Another puzzle-like piece with a Home Sweet Home theme. Looking back here are a couple of previous assemblages: Home Sweet Home no 1 and no 2. Some precious little treasures were included in this one.

Assembling Tea For Two

Thought you would enjoy watching the latest assemblage come to life. I believe I'll call it "Tea For Two". Next step is to remove everything so I can work on the box before gluing each element into place. The video will come in handy when it's time to piece the puzzle back together.

A big THANK YOU to each of you who shopped and tweeted my Christmas In July sale. It was a big success! All the packages were mailed off yesterday so keep your eye out if you're expecting a Sushipot art object ;)

Stick Figure Family

Popping in to share some eye candy with you on a Sunday afternoon. I could not resist picking up this darling stick figure family for the vintage shop. Lizzie says they're 'cute as a button' and I have to agree. Lucky for us we get to enjoy their company 'till they find a new home ;)

Pastiche Collage

My collection of vintage doilies continues to grow and (as with all my collections) has become fair game for collage. It's amazing what a bit of starch, paint 'n sandpaper will do to the surface of a doily. As for the objects...that's just me getting a little OCD again.

In other news...what's up with this view out my window?

Ship In A Bottle

Have you ever wondered how in the world they get those darn ships into a bottle? Patrick and I watched this truly fascinating portrait of one Australian man, Ray Gascoigne, whose got the magical art of 'ship-in-bottle-making' down to a science. I was inspired...not to try my hand at stuffing a ship in a bottle but to make a little collage of my own.

Twenty-Four Assemblage

Have I ever mentioned I love putting jigsaw puzzles together? I finally got down to business and did something with those wooden bits 'n pieces acquired earlier this month. The ol' skittle clown has been hanging out in the studio since way back when. I was kind of on the fence over the pink chicken but Lizzie was quite emphatic that it be included....after all it is her favorite color. As for the title...there are exactly 23 wooden pieces in the puzzle + 1 pink chicken.

Posture Plaques

The merits of good posture and the repercussions of bad posture were thoroughly discussed in the circa 1870's elementary physiology book from which these images were gleaned. Posture plaques and other anatomical goods in the shop tonight. I think I'm sittin' up a bit straighter in my chair now.

This chipper clown and his balloon bouquet are hanging out in the shop. Happy Monday ;)

Home Sweet Home no 2

Home Sweet Home no 2, mixed media assemblage

Another version of this theatrical rendition of the "Home Sweet Home" theme. This one is more of a 'house-within-a-house-that-kinda-resembles-a-cuckoo-clock-without-the-clock'. Its even got a swingin' pendulum....

....tick-tock, tick-tock. Welcome 3rd week of 2013!
