High Seas

High Seas, original collage on physiology book cover

A pair of book cover collage pieces with oceanic themes will be posted in the shop this evening. I'll be back in a bit with one more...enjoy!

Spoonful Of Ship

Spoonful Of Ship, mixed media assemblage with wooden spoon

Patrick has a bad habit of labeling every piece with it's own theme song. I'm gonna regret sharing this one but I can't help myself 'cuz it's classic SNL yo. Hah!

Anchors Aweigh

Anchors Aweigh, assemblage of wood scraps & a puzzle piece

Patrick reminded me of this episode and now I can't get that Styx song out of my head.

The Bathtub

The Bathtub, original collage on book cover

Sometimes our imagination gets the best of us doesn't it? I've got all sorts of fun objects brewing in the studio this week. I'll be back tomorrow with an assemblage that may or may not include a clown (but more than likely will).

Ship In A Bottle

Ship In A Bottle, original collage on vintage physics textbook cover

Bottled History from Smith Journal on Vimeo.

Have you ever wondered how in the world they get those darn ships into a bottle? Patrick and I watched this truly fascinating portrait of one Australian man, Ray Gascoigne, whose got the magical art of 'ship-in-bottle-making' down to a science. I was inspired...not to try my hand at stuffing a ship in a bottle but to make a little collage of my own.

Winds A'Blowing

Winds A 'Blowing, collage on page from discarded library book

The winds a'blowing

Snows a'melting

Change's a'coming

We're a'moving!!!

Good news my friends...remember what I rambled on about back in January? Well...it's been a crazy couple months with Patrick on the job market but the long process is over and it's official...we're moving to Springfield, Missouri!! Patrick will be joining the Economics Department at Missouri State University this Fall. Now it's time to start a'packing and tie up all those loose ends on that dissertation. Only a couple more months 'till I can officially call him Dr. Scott. hah! Go Bears!
