Uppercase Issue 18

This snowball of color arrived in my mailbox yesterday afternoon. Uppercase issue #18 is a collage concoction beginning with the amazing cover piece by artist Sarah Bridgland.

Firstly...I must toot the Sushipot horn and point out pages 98 & 99 where my assemblage pieces Flower Cycle and Home Sweet Home are featured. Yay!

If you're not yet acquainted with this magazine for the creative and curious this is a great issue to explore as it is an open issue online. You can click here to explore the issue.

For anyone working in a creative field this magazine is a must...it's the real deal (ink on paper!) and cannot compete with scrolling on Pinterest for inspiration.

Who doesn't want these patterned spines adding flavor to the bookshelf? So...when you head over to subscribe I've got a coupon code for you! Just enter 'contributor18' to receive $10.00 off your subscription or renewal at Uppercase (This code will expire on August 1, 2013).

Thank you Janine, Uppercase staff and fellow contributers for another wonderful issue. Opening the issue was like celebrating Christmas in July for real!

Block Collection In Uppercase

I've been eagerly awaiting the arrival of issue #14 of Uppercase Magazine. When I glimpsed the familiar envelope in the mailman's hands this afternoon I zipped out the door to retrieve it immediately.

Yes, I've expressed my undying love for this magazine in the past but this issue is special indeed. I was thrilled when Janine contacted me to put together a grouping of my vintage block images for the Collection spread (see pages 58 & 59 of your issue or you can preview a digital copy here).

Lizzie was just as excited to see the feature as she has arranged many of these block designs for me to photograph. The theme of this issue is all about PLAY and I must say it looks chock-full 'o fun. Now I just need to settle down with a cuppa and leisurely enjoy its pages!

If these vintage block images are making you itch to get your hands on a set of your own I do have some available in the shop right here. Or....you can pick up a set of reproduction color cubes by Froebel right here.

We also love the old-school pennant with the Uppercase slogan of "Creative & Curious" that was tucked inside our package. It will be proudly displayed here at the Sushipot headquarters! And now....I'm going to take a bit of time off to PLAY (and clean up the house a smidgen!) as my parents are headed this way for a visit (Yay for grandparents!!). See you back here next week.

Dear Uppercase

Dear Uppercase,

Let me count the ways I love your pages. You are eye candy for my creative soul. My to-do lists vanish when you appear and so does my cabin fever. It's hard to concentrate on anything when you are sitting there waiting to be read and re-read. I'm seriously considering scheduling 4 vacation days a year. What have you done to me? I cannot grow tired of you. You will never end up in a recycling bin because you are beautiful & timeless. I will collect and keep you forever and ever.

Your admiring reader,
Sushipot

Disclaimer & A Request: I'm not meaning to be creepy or anything. I'm just really taken by this magazine. It's my favorite ever! And....if anyone out there is willing to sell me issues 1 and/or 2 I would pay an arm and/or a leg to complete my collection. Or...I would even love to borrow them for a week to read and promise I would take good care of them and return them (yeah right)!
