Clown Kingpin

Kingpin, mixed media assemblage art doll clown with dangle-y bits

Possibly my favorite clown ever? Alas, I cannot keep him...he's headed to live in Brooklyn, NY. Have you seen these stamps yet? I bought two sheets....one to save and one to use. Gotta send some snail mail now! And....check out these old-school clowns.

Paintbrush Clown

The last installment for this round of assemblage is a wise ol' paintbrush clown with tattooed arms (last seen in this mummified state). For those of you wondering about art blocks...a fresh batch of them will be served next week. And...remember this paintbrush clown?

Dolly The Clown

Dolly The Clown, mixed media assemblage art doll

She's a daisy this "Dolly The Clown" with her starry tights, yellow blouse 'n stripe-y skirt. Way back in January, when I was out with the flu, this sweet half-clown appeared in a 'lil surprise package from my friend Beca.

I believe it's the top half of a Schoenhut Rolly Dolly toy from the early 1900's. Since dear Dolly had lost her roly half I finally got around to presenting her with a spiffy new leggy look.

Bozo-Taur Pull Toy

A foray into the anthropomorphic world of the clown/horse/centaur. I've officially dubbed him a Bozo-Taur. The assemblage is functioning as a pull toy but is not meant for rowdy play--only gentle interaction as it is an art object after all.

'Lil Clown Plaque

Popping in this evening to share a 'lil clown plaque that's magically appeared in the shop. I wonder how that happened? He's in his element folks--surrounded by festive bunting and lotsa fun!

Pink Clown

Pink Clown (aka Pinky Pong), original mixed media assemblage

Lizzie pointed out the other day that I'd never made a pink clown (someone's favorite color of course!)....so I made one :) She's named him Pinky Pong. I'm thinking 'cuz his nose looks like a big, red ping-pong ball? Anyhow, he's a bright fellow and is cheering things up in the shop.

Circus Elephant

Circus Elephant, mixed media assemblage

Last but not least today...this 'lil elephant is determined to make a stand (hah!). More circus acts are coming together behind the scenes. Hopefully I'll have 'em ready to share before the week's end.

Round Clown

Round Clown, mixed media assemblage

A happy July to you! I've been puttering around in the studio concocting more circus-y goodness. This little fellow is on the rotund side and he kinda reminds me of this little roly-poly guy although he does tend to stay in one place.

Hygenia Shorter

Hygenia Shorter, collage on found book page

"Ladies and Gentlemen...introducing the amazing Hygenia Shorter and her rabid (Pat's description, not mine) donkey". Yeah, I had a little bit 'o fun with this one. The page was taken from an elementary physiology & health textbook from the late 1800's. Apparently one of the courses that Miss Shorter was studying back in the day. I wonder how she ended up with the name Hygenia?

Jack In The Box

Jack In The Box, mixed media assemblage

As I was standing in line to pay for my thrifty finds at The Grand Ol' Trunk a couple of months ago I spotted a lone Indian club. A few weeks later I came across a silly vintage clown head (formerly a piggybank) at MonaCross and instantly knew it would make a perfect match for this comical Jack In The Box assemblage.
