Fairy Bouquet

Lizzie gathered this sweet lil' bouquet for her fairy garden and I had to document it. I'm going to step away from the computer and spend some time offline for the next few days. My mom (Grandma!!) is coming to visit for the weekend and she arrives in a few hours. Wishing all you mama's a Happy Mother's Day weekend!

March Art Blocks

We've been enjoying warm Springtime breezes and slightly longer days (thanks to daylight savings last weekend). I'm welcoming the real thing and am quite ready for my 'happy lamp' to collect dust 'til next winter. This month's art blocks have been steeped in all sorts of sunny thoughts :) They'll be in the shop today.

And the last installment for this evening...also adorned with hand-colored flowers from a very old book. Don't forget the holiday sale continues through Sunday night.

Spring Daffodils

Illustration from the April 1930 issue of Child Life magazine

Our favorite family poem is William Wordsworth's, "I Wandered Lonely As A Cloud". A lovely vision for this first day of Spring...

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
and twinkle on the Milky Way,
They stretched in never-ending line
along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
in such a jocund company:
I gazed—and gazed—but little thought
what wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

Happy Spring!

Even though we've been experiencing record warm temperatures for several weeks I'm still quite excited that today is officially Spring!! Our plans today include creating a Spring-time bucket list, a bit of crafty time in the studio and if it stops drizzling outside, a walk on our favorite trail. What are your Spring-y plans?

Marimekko Sheet

So excited to have snagged this vintage Marimekko sheet for Lizzie's bed from Aunt Sisters Picks on Etsy. The bold, floral graphics are soooo cheerful. Only problem is now it's kinda hard to get someone to make her bed--she really doesn't want to cover up the sheet!

Floral Endpapers

Aren't these delicate, floral endpapers exquisite and aged to perfection too? I rediscovered them this week while rummaging through my "Extra Special Ephemera That Must Be Used In A Very Special Way" drawer. I'm sure every collage artist has a drawer labeled like this. Am I right?! Anyhow, before I sign off for the weekend I wanted to say a BIG "thank you" for the glowing response to my newest collages on book covers that I shared earlier in the week. Your comments, tweets, emails, convos and purchases mean the world to me. Have a beautiful weekend!

Hudson Trail

Lizzie and I take a walk on the Hudson Trail, a 1/2 mile walking path near our home, several times a month. We always stop to smell the flowers and take pictures of them too. Enjoy!

Truly Special

Just want to say...

...I had a truly special Mother's Day weekend.

Thank you Lizzie.

Have a bright, sunshiny-as-a-dandelion week!

Cheery Crewel

Thought I would greet this new week by sharing a cheery crewelwork piece I picked up earlier in the month. How could I resist these sweet lovebirds? The piece was probably intended to become a pillow but now that it's mine it will be stuck in a frame and hung up in Lizzie's room.

The Color White

Wrapping up this week with the color white over at Poppytalk. I took that first image of a bloomin' tree in our front yard last night. Guess I'm back on my allergy pill regimen for the near future while the trees do their thing. Have a beautiful weekend!

1950's Iron On Embroidery

I'm thrilled to offer assorted sets of these iron on embroidery appliques from the 1950's at Sushipot Parts. They are a lot of fun to use and I've been scheming up several projects to incorporate them in my own work.

Fluorescent Flowerpot

I never paid attention to this little house in our neighborhood until it was recently painted - now it's impossible not to notice! Seems like there are some renovations being done to the interior because a fluorescent flowerpot has been installed atop a dirt pile in the front yard. Talk about upcycling! We usually are driving by in a rush to the post office so Lizzie and I took a walk the other day with the camera in hand just so we could document this local beauty and share it with you.

Welcome May

We welcomed in the month of May this weekend; flowers, maypoles, fairy wings, a thunderstorm, lots of sneezing (allergies all around in this family) and some very blue skies.
